You can also do this by putting a pot full of salt water on the fire and hanging a small plastic bag over top of the boiling water, but make sure the plastic isnt too close to the fire and is at an angle that will make the drip predictable and put and empty container where the steam is building up and dripping off

yes but you made distilled water which is the purest form of water. When consumed a lot of distilled water, you can die. Drinking small bits of distilled water is fine though.

This is also how you make some cooking salt usually use a half coconut filled with salt water as it boils away it leaves salt in the bottom of the coconut good for cooking or food preserving
