Hello, I realize this is a 3yr old post at this point, but I was just plagued with the problem and did some bad things to the rear frame while towing on my 2004 Suburban 2500. For confirmation, the hitch you put on is the DrawTite Class IV model 41930. Additionally, I would be very interested in seeing pictures of the welding repair you stated you did on another Suburban. I need ideas on if I can salvage what I have. I desperately want to save my vehicle if I can. Thank you!

How heavy was the load that bent your frame?

I have 2010 suburban and would like to upgrade the receiver. It sounds like the curt would be easy this one will require more work as I need to space it down because of the gm plastic bumper. I am trying to eliminate the worry about bending my frame. It sounds like its common. I have around 800 - 1000 lbs tongue weight but go off-road so it will probably put more stress on the rear frame. How much tongue weight have you put on this one? It's dumb that the owner manual says 1500 lbs but the sticker on the factory receiver says 1000 lbs I can't get a good answer on what it would be rated at if I replace the receiver.

I just lost my 04 8.1 burb on vacation, it had this hitch. Bent the frame down when I freight trained a brake checker. So move to the new, I finally found an 05 (finding an 04-06 8.1/4.10 is like finding a one off Lamborghini :/) and want to put this kind of receiver on again but ran into an issue with the vapor canister on the back right rail. Did you have to relocate yours or did they put that somewhere else in 03?
