Roland JD-XA – The Best of Both Worlds Chapter 3

Roland’s famous Supersaw waveform coming from a digital part becomes a very warm and rich pad sound just by passing it through the analog filter. Even simple white noise can be transformed into a range of complex sound effects that are perfect for film and game scores. First, enhance the noise using two TFX types, such as one for subsonic reinforcement and the other a short reverb for body. After that, process the sound through the analog Ring Mod and Cross Mod functions and tweak their controls in real time for a variety of cool tonal colors.

very nice, filter knob could stand to be more performance oriented. shape size and location looks to be a bit meh. but the overall character sounds very cool

So nice! I have that little JD-Xi which is lots of fun. But, its LCD screen is not good and this unit has the very same tiny little red on red screen. Why the heck did Roland not upgrade this feature as all of the other big names in the business are doing? Seriously, the unit is beautiful other than that.

I think Roland has suffered with designs like this, not owing to the power of the designs themselves, but rather a lack of attention to detail in programming factory presets.

My FA-06 is a beast, but you'd never know it from some of the programming decisions which arrive as part of the out-of-box experience.

I just ordered a JD-XA, and expect every bit as much to mine some pretty incredible depths out of it.
