Is space junk dangerous?
Space junk refers to any man-made object in Earth orbit that no longer serves a useful purpose, such as rocket parts, discarded satellites, and tools lost during space missions. As the number of objects in Earth's orbit increases, the risk of collisions also increases. Even small pieces of junk can cause significant damage due to their high speed.
In addition to damage to satellites and other objects in Earth orbit, space debris can also be a hazard to manned space missions. The European Space Agency estimates that there are more than 34,000 objects in Earth orbit that are larger than 10 centimeters and that may pose a danger to manned missions in the near future.

Yes. Because humanity is crazy and just create a lot of garbage. And anything traveling fast enough will cause damage.
