Researchers at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are actively conducting sUAS flight operations to develop/evaluate advanced technologies, concepts of operation, and human roles for the envisioned future of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and emergency response. Open-source PX4 technologies, driven by the innovation of the PX4 community, have become core components within this research environment. This talk covers NASA technologies built with PX4 capabilities (QGroundControl) and NASA technologies developed to integrate with PX4 capabilities (MAVLink, PX4). The areas of research being studied with these technologies include human factors, BVLOS/remote operations, and advanced automation. NASA researchers are interested in future collaborations with the open-source community.

As presented during the PX4 Developer Summit 2022 in Austin, Texas.
