Honestly more up-close compliments are much better, but to be fair I'm an autist and anybody calling at me can be jarring. I think fashion choices also changes the approach of the cat call, I dress in a conserved way, while I get frequent compliments on my appearance, they're rarely in a "call", it's unwise to shout down a rather meek looking woman. I imagine women who dress less conserved get more crass comments.
We also live in a low trust society, most women with a few functioning braincells are worried about other people being dangerous... so please just approach like a gentlemen instead of raising voices.

I can understand why someone would be uncomfortable being catcalled, but I think what proves his point is that many women are perfectly fine posting risqué thirst traps online knowing perfectly well they’ll be basically catcalled in the comments

When I complain about getting catcalled, it is because I am talking about how horrible my neighborhood is. I always get catcalled when walking to and from school, and my school uniform is luckily VERY modest. I just find it sick that some random guys think it's okay to catcall a highschool student.
