One person has died and some 70,000 people are stranded in the remote Black Rock Desert of Nevada where the annual Burning Man festival was set to take place before rain turned the retreat into a mud pit. Festival organizers say their main focus is safety and getting people out. NBC’s Dasha Burns reports for Sunday TODAY.

Wait they have the ability to drive Wi-Fi routers in and out of the place but people can't be on those trucks as they come and go to get people out. That makes no sense

Isnt that less deaths than previous non-storm years?

Isn't this how Burning Man is suppose to go?

She reported that like it was some major catastrophe. It rained. Chris Rock walked out. The festival doesn't even end until tomorrow. They may have to wait a few days to drive out, but it isn't the end of the world.

News Media: **Everyone stranded there is tortured desperately trying to get home**

Reality: A bunch of partiers trippin out of their minds enjoying the rain and music not even knowing they're "stranded"

I remember after the first Woodstock, it was reported one person died(they fell asleep in a farmers field and were killed accidentally by farm equipment). However, one baby was also born at Woodstock.

This was always going to happen. A playa isn’t an extinct lake, it’s an occasional one.

spent my whole life out camping, long range dirt bike rides in the desert, its wild to see how regular people react to being stuck out there.

It’s not like anyone will miss work . The death was a drug overdose.

I just got out of there. The news is overblowing this. Friday night was pretty wet and miserable for some. Saturday was muddy but the parties were back on and people were generally happy. Pretty much everyone comes with way too much food, water and booze so people are still quite happy out there. If I didn’t have an international flight I would’ve stayed with the rest of my camp.

Ive been To Burning Man many times in the past, starting in 1994. My late husband became obsessed with it, and was one of it's early contributors. One year, it rained a lot and he was determined to leave even though people were stuck in the mud all over. We barely made it out in our large RV.

It's safe to say the cure for cancer won't be delayed if all these people don't make it back.

The majority of those people aren't wanting to be labeled as stranded. They're definitely happy and doing their substances.
