My Father bought a Corolla brand new in 1972 (almost identical to this one in dark green) great car.

This Rolla looks nice. At that price I would buy 3 right now.

A Maverick was $1995
A Pinto was $1900
A Gremlin was $1900

The 1969 Ford Falcon was $2300 so proces in the 60s had crept up.

The Toyota undercut them by just $100 to $200...but enough to catch attention. However early Toyotas couldn't be ordered with factory air....and until the 70s couldn't be ordered with automatics. The AC offered was dealer installedfeom a box unit kit mounted under the dash.

The base corolla had rubber floors instead of carpeting. Very hard base seats.

However so did the 1970 base Maverick...but you could get in with AC, power steering and AT. Toyota was pretty much a this is it...take it or leave it. However they had a great little motor and good interior size compared to the small exterior.
