This Art Company Is Hiding Something Big....

Today I am going to be comparing and sharing my opinion on the $2000 Louis Vuitton Watercolor to the $30 Senneleir Watercolor. Could it be they're the same item?

Hey Rae, being from Europe I did a little bit of research and the EMB number is not a colour pigment number, but a french packaging number. This means that both tubes were packaged in the exact same factory! So no more speculation there! They are the same! We have something similar here in Germany with foods in discounters, which is why I got that idea. The wasp pictures were amazing!

Louis Vuitton has some nerve, honestly. I mean, obviously we’re expecting that they’re private labeling from an existing art company — paints take YEARS of pigment sourcing, formulation, and testing to get a high quality product that has been tested for light fastness, etc., so I wouldn’t expect them to start their own line from scratch. But to go to a top of the line brand like Sennelier and private label their bargain basement student range?? For what they know they’re about to charge for it??? I have no problem saying it: *it IS a scam.* It is.

I think the most shocking part is that they didn't even do the artist grade set.They chose to do the student grade set... especially at that price point..

I don't understand why these fashion brands don't just do a collaboration with a high-end art supplies company?

For $2, 000, LV could have at least bought Sennelier's artist grade line. To charge $2, 000 for student grade paint is just greed.

If you're not going to say they're lying then I will.
I used to work in the retail industry and we had a warehouse for clothes. We shipped to all kinds of stores both high end and low end. The thing was the clothes were ALL THE SAME. They were made by the place I used to work and when we had a high end store place an order and we didn't have enough of the certain item they ordered, we would go to the low end store order, pull the item out, take the low end tags off, sew the high end tags on and send the order to the high end store because they were paying more for the item, but, not much more.
This happens in EVERY industry from clothing, to makeup, to purses, to shoes, to art supplies, to home decor.
People are basically paying for a name, that's it, nothing more.

Let’s not forget the labeling on the LV packaging & tubes, are removable. As Rae pointed out in the original, the lettering on the box isn’t even etched in, they are stuck on. So in all technicality you could “lose value” as those stickers start to flake.

Edit; I also completely agree at the end, please don’t waste anymore money on LV unless it’s something crazy. At this point we all know (because of your videos) they are a rip off.

It's understandable that they have to buy the paint from a manufacturer, but why not pick a very expensive premium one at least?

The worst is that Sennelier is a well known well respected iconic brand, It would have done LV well to co brand or acknowledge them for their expertise, but they clearly feared sharing the attention. As for the lack of design by a design company - how dare they simply “posses” an art staple and mark it up. Let me count all their ethics

The la petite aquarelle from Sennelier is the student grade version of Sennelier- so that would make sense if the pigment was a bit lower !

Hey Rae, next time LV puts out an "art supply", a good/fun video might be to see how cheaply you can create your own "copy"--I.E. a case or packaging of a simmilar design that you customize to your specific liking, and then comparable art supplies to go in it or even if you choose premium art supplies, how much cheaper it would be to buy top grade art supplies, a good case for them, and then customize it... which IMO is always worth more than the 200th version of the same "design" with a logo slapped all over it!

In all fairness, I would never buy art supplies from a fashion company. I would rather go purchase from an actual art company. Kind of reminds me when makeup companies start doing crappy skincare. I kinda just think 'stay in your lane?'

The least they could do is put it in a nice case/container. Like a nice glass one or ceramic. Because if the product inside is 🗑 then the item is a staging or decorating item. And by those standards, it has to at least look nice. Looks like something for sale in my nail salon tbh

This happens with clothes too. You'll buy some shirt in a very expensive brand and find the same thing in another store, that happens to be cheaper! They buy from the same manufacturer. I have friends in the industry who have told me this.

Sigh. That’s sad that they don’t even use the artist quality paint for a product that’s so expensive. I love my artist grade sennelier paints, granted not for $2000 but still. Thanks for the great follow up video! Love the drama. Rae Dizzle, always helping us artists find the deals!!!

Amazing that no one commented on how cheap the Sennies were. Artist grade Sennelier would cost around $100 for a 12 pack. Obviously these must be student grade.

Aquarelle notwithstanding, I'd like to take a second to acknowledge that *fantastic* watercolor Rae did of the insect...twice! It has such a strong trompe l'oeil aspect that captures the bug in a striking, natural light. So we get supplies critique, as well as treated to really good art. It tells me her mental health is improving. Our girl is doing something right. ❤️ Best wishes from the Southwest.
