CAT D10 Dozer Cylinder Rebuild | Part 2 | Making the New Barrel

Показать описание
This video is part 2 of rebuilding a Caterpillar D10R dozer blade tilt hydraulic cylinder. In this episode we are machining, welding and honing to make the new cylinder barrel. We start with machining a piece of 10 ¾” x 9 ¼” Unhoned steel tube to prep it for the head flange and barrel end cap. We then fit and metal core weld the head flange onto the new barrel before finish honing the internal diameter using our Delapena vertical honing machine. The barrel end is positioned on the barrel and tack welded in place. We then make up the barrel torque tube using a piece of hollow bar. We cut the length of hollow bar to size in our horizontal bandsaw and then set it up in our lathe. We turn down the outer diameter before preparing for welding by machining and boring each end of the tube. The torque tube is positioned on the barrel and tack welded in place. We then finish up with metal core welding the end cap and torque tube on to the barrel.

In this video we are using:
- TM-26120G Centre Lathe
- WIA 500i Weldmatic welder
- Everising H-360HA horizontal bandsaw

I’ve just watched a 40 plus minute video on a subject I know absolutely nothing about but enjoyed every bit of it- well, except the adds which I don’t give a shit about. Actually, I suffered through those with the hope it helps monetarily for you guys. But, television shows, as a whole, are full of crap and are generally unsatisfying. But, I thoroughly enjoy this content. I don’t truly understand a lot of what or why things are done, despite Kurtis’ succinct explanations, but it I’m learning. Thank you for the videos. Looking forward to the next one. You both be safe.

There’s three legends on this channel. Curtis, the patient missus filming and laughing at him and the four legged safety officer. Awesome friggin channel.

I'm just one in a million of your viewers who avidly look forward to each episode. I greatly admire your engineering skills, your wife's patience and photography skills. I also enjoy that rare little beast, your dog... from Orlando USA

You have the best band saw that I have ever seen! What a great addition to a metal working shop that is. Always a joy to watch you doing class work.

Hi Kurtis, the world is crazy. I live right on the other side of the world and I'm happy every time new videos come from CEE. Always nice to see a professional approach to things. And a big thumbs up to the camera lady - great close-ups and well done slomos. Stay tuned, rock the machines and have a nice weekend.

I’m fascinated with machining, also Karen’s editing of videos enhances the final video. Thanks for your hard work. I think you are educating the world.

Your newer videos with commentary are just as informative as before and more entertaining. The vidrography is also even better and more entertaining. Not often you get to be informed, educated and entertained. The bloopers at the end are a hoot.

I don't know what I like more, the engineering or the dog clips!

It’s good to see the star of the show wearing his new bright green PPE. Great video as always. 👍👍

Great video. I’m always intrigued in the story - would you consider a video talking about yourself and your company - how you trained, decisions to start for yourself, how you chose the equipment, what equipment you regret buying or has been great - proper shop your, and what plans you have going forward. The quality of the work is phenomenal- be proud of your work mate.

Love this stuff. I think we tend to take it all for granted. Small marvels are hidden in non descript industrial sheds all across the nation. Mastery of heavy things with precision things. Kind of reminds us all of what makes our lives possible. Good, worthy honest work. Great stuff Kurtis. Love the out takes! Thanks for inviting us into your day(s).

I don't know why I love watching this while putting on makeup in the morning. But your videos make my morning complete. Thank you for your awesome content ^.^

As a retired auto mechanic and amateur machinist I always enjoy watching your work but today it occurred to me that the biggest pleasure of watching your channel is the truly excellent camera work by your wife (I assume), really great framing, focus and close-ups. Thanks for all the efforts you both make to provide these videos! I also appreciate that you confine the swearing to the outtakes as I personally prefer to skip that.

I ran a company filming guitar lessons for a number of years, same problem with the camera. As soon as I turned it on - my talent, a 40 year professional teacher and player would need 15 takes to get his words out. Awesome video - looking forward to the next one!

First time i've seen a lathe chuck used like that (on the tailstock) :)). Brilliant.

Once again those tailstock live chucks are brilliant. Good to see you keeping your knees off the concrete my friend. I can't remember if you have a belting or pad to stand on at each machine ? if not your hips and back sure want them. I love big and as that Dundee fella would say, "That's a boring bar" LOL. You folks make such great videos. I can almost feel and smell all the sensations I had for many years. As always, Thanks a bunch and take care eh.
