We go over how to find the nth term of an arithmetic sequence using basic reasoning and the definition of an arithmetic progression. Such a sequence is defined by a starting term and a common difference between successive terms. For example, perhaps a1 = 9 and d = -2. This means the sequence begins with 9 and each successive term is the previous term -2. So the sequence is 9, 7, 5, etc. #algebra2

I deliberately choose to omit formulas from this lesson because the formulas are for such a simple task as to be more of a hindrance in my opinion. If you understand the concepts here, no "formula" is necessary to solve a wide range of basic arithmetic progression problems.

Hey Wrath of Math. I don’t usually comment on YT videos but I wanted to say that yours are amazing and extremely helpful. I have a general question about grades that I wanted to ask you. In your opinion, how important are grades in math and how accurately do they capture one’s mathematical ability? I was also wondering if you struggled with math at some point.
