The East African Legislative Assembly (Assembly) is an organ of the East African Community; established under Article 9 of the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.

The Treaty establishing the East African Community was signed on 30th November 1999 and entered into force on 7th July 2000 with currently 7 Member states;The Republic of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo,The Republic of Kenya, The Republic of Rwanda, The Republic of South Sudan,The United Republic of Tanzania and The Republic of Uganda, with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
