'Rahul Gandhi's Conviction Just, Proper': Gujarat High Court Dismisses His Plea In Modi Surname Case

Dismissing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s petition seeking to put on hold his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his "Modi surname" remark, the Gujarat High Court on Friday observed that “purity in politics is need of the hour.”

"The present conviction is a serious matter affecting a large segment of society and needs to be viewed by this court with the gravity and significance it commands. It is now a need of the hour to have purity in politics," the High Court remarked. "Representatives of people should be men of clear antecedent," it added.
