Nice explanation Anthony.. I get a lot of Cyprus wood to me cypress is a hybrid of cedar and it puts off a spicy smell when it burns.

Interesting. Here in Alberta you can get a premium for well seasoned birch firewood

Paper birch is my go to for bagged firewood... keep off ground in log form and will dry to 12% ready to burn

The first nations indigenous people make canoes from birch bark as it is essentially waterproof. So that is why birch needs to be cut and split in order to dry properly.
