I have no idea the capability's of these new drones with the smart device are but my guess is this would be most usful in the hands of a JTAC . If you could use the drone to create a GPS mark or SPI for an overhead aircraft via radio data link you can half the time and completely eliminate the danger of CAS for both ground and air . Being able to visually locate a target and create a markpoint for an aircraft from distance completely undetected is invaluable .

It's absolutely right that these things are constantly tried, but I was reassured when one soldier said they learned with map and compass, and reading the ground directly, because electronic and electric gear has its vulnerabilities. And with these small drones, endurance is limited, while wind can be critical.
What's more, cold isn't good for batteries, or to warm humans.

The USA has a new vehicle similar to the one shown in this video but it's much more versatile because it, if I remember correctly, has wheels and tracks & it maneuvers in weird ways!! It's limited to what its used for but, what it does is awesome!! I've never seen anything like it before and the way it moves is just odd. Can't remember what they called it, either!

Looks like the Ukrainian army is field testing the UK's Martlet missile, even before the UK troops themselves.

Which ever pieces of kit the army decides to buy, you can guarantee that they’ll buy it from the lowest bidder, & there won’t be enough to fulfill requirements. Some things never change.

Same trials, same kit, same companies, same news story every year. Hardly anything taken forward.

Hopefully you don't need to use the 8 wheeled device to carry all the batteries needed to run the other toys.

The "Big Issue" is always going to be defence spending. Currently running at a pitiful poverty level of less than 3% GDP, when it should be much higher. Considering defence is the first duty of any government, British spending by HM Gov should be guaranteed by Royal decree to never fall below 5% in peacetime. With much more available as required. Any attempt to reduce that figure resulting in the immediate suspension of parliament and a general election.
Considering the current woeful state of our armed forces, now only 50% of what they need to be. There must be a period of accelerated growth. Funded by a severe reduction in the overseas aid budget to all nations except those like Nepal. Perhaps only 2% of the current £15+ billion given away and wasted per annum. Most of that 2% dependant on the recipient nation exchanging weapons for aid. An extra £10 billion per year for a decade or more. Should see us back to Cold War levels and more.
NB: Big Issue references to the homeless are completely intentional. In recognition of the disproportionate numbers of veterans still living on the streets in British cities.

We must not rely too much on killer robots, it would be dispoyalty and dishonor. Because robots don't have a soul, a heart and they don't know loyalty and honor. Winning wars requires human soldiers who have hearts, souls, and who know loyalty and honor!
