DIY Automatic Alcohol Dispenser ($3 No Arduino Needed)

Build the simplest $3 Automated Alcohol Dispenser without using Arduino. Keep your hands clean by filling it with liquid soap, hand sanitizer or with rubbing alcohol. By reducing physical contact, an automated dispenser keeps virus from spreading around in communal areas.

INSTRUCTABLE TUTORIAL:

THE DESIGN:
I've seen several Arduino automated liquid dispensers circulating the web. I find using Arduinos a bit overkill for this specific project. Arduinos are far too expensive. I figured using a simple transistor or MOSFET would do the job, which would also drastically reduce the costs. Obviously, the absence of a micro controller removes control of over spilling, but then, I did find out that using a smaller nozzle would physically limit the flow of liquid. There are several two transistor RC circuits that would solve the over spilling problem but the single transistor design works well, given that you choose the proper nozzle size.

The best minimal design so far! Great job!!!! Unlike others, I love how you didn't use an arduino to overkill this project.

Hi! You're probably not gonna see this comment.

But I just wanted to say that the style of your videos reminds me of the late Grant Thompson, I surely do miss his vids and it's kinda nice that I was reminded of him again.

Also salutations from a fellow countrymen! Stay safe y'all

P.s. love your vids!

Now you can upgrade this by inserting a small perfume ball valve near the discharge port of the pump so that the fluid doesn’t go back to the tank everytime you it goes off. This will act as a gravity one way valve or a check valve. Fluid output will be smooth as sanitizer.

You can find the metal 2-3mm metal balls in so many place. Bike hubs, perfume bottles etc. Nice project.

This is great - I made a bedside vodka dispenser using this design: Industrial pump, 25 litre vodka container and tube straight into my mouth, activated by blinking my eyelids.

I tried activating it by waving my hand but after the first litre or two I couldn't even lift my arm. With the eyelind blink activation I can now get vodka as soon as I wake up.

I used the leftover tubing for a catheter which neatly solves the problem of no longer being able to walk after the first 30 minutes

For those concerned about the wires and pump being immersed in alcohol, you can probably put the pump outside of the bottle then just insert another tube into the bottle for the source.

I have needed a similar set up for an invention I am designing. This is a PERFECT MATCH FOR MY DESIGN!! YAY!!!! When I hit $1M ... I'll tip u off

Great tutorial! Hoping you can teach us to make our old AC powered conventional study lamps into DC powered rechargeable lamps.
More power to this channel!

One note. Beware on the wire colour in the USB cable. Often times they don't follow standard colouring, so it's worth checking the polarity with a multimeter if you have one.

Your explanation is very clear and I hope to try out this project since the components are easily available. Thanks.
