The workaround is effective, start headless and then press show.

Thank you! It did not work for me, but in my case the failure was because I had done an update of the base operating system (host) which is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and apparently the update required some further updates to make everything work properly again. So, in the end, make sure your version of VirtualBox matches all of its dependencies!

Go to setting and go to USB tab and disable it

try this : right click on VM manager and choose Discard saved state

I don't know much about this, but will this do anything for the error i get with kali linux? because that is the vm I am having issues with. I blue screened when using vmware, and it gets this error when using virtual box.

The solution for me was running command "sfc /scannow" in an administrator command prompt window, then rebooting PC.. give it a try if you have this error
