A nice explanation. 3600 divided by 1000 equals 3.6 So in practice the two steps can be carried out by simply dividing the speed given in km/hr by 3.6 Therefore 72 km/h = 20 m/s

I would go from kilometers to meters first, and then convert hours to seconds later.
That is easier to calculate in the head. Decimals is harder to remember and manage.

But the explanation is correct.

tbh he's leaning towards scientific way of unit conversion. In a much more complicated conversion, it's very bad to convert by just multiplying / dividing a factor. However this dude is half-assed towards that approach as well. Since in a proper unit conversion you want to times a fraction of say 1000m/1km (which is technically 1 and won't change the value) and 1hr/3600sec. The pt is to physically see and cancel out the "km" & "hr" and be left with "m/sec". It's useful in uni for phys and chem.

multiply it to get km/g again
