My best friend who passed in 2007 (Think Johnny and Ponyboy here), chose this song as her wedding song. I sang it at her funeral. Every time I hear it played, I am reminded that she is still with me. This rendition is a definite reminder of her. Absolutely beautiful cover. Thank you, Iron and Wine!

I love that he resists the urge, to leap into those choruses and belt out the note. Instead, he perfectly maintains his pitch, instead of showing off his range. This is something I listen to and learn from as a Songwriter.

Sam beam’s voice has been with me through my youth and into adulthood. Our endless numbered days is a heavy album for me as it reminds me of my first love. That first wound that cut so deep. We’re both married now, our lives have lead on separate paths. Hearing his voice and listening to the stuff he’s put out through the years has been so cathartic. His album with Jesca Hoop “Love letter for fire” is one that reminds me of my amazing wife, and the beautiful life we have created together. A few of the songs from that album played at our wedding. Life is funny. Emotions can be difficult but I’m thankful for everything, without the hurt, the joy wouldn’t be as sweet. Big thanks for all the inspiration through the years Sam. You helped me grow as a human.
