He came into the shop I was working in around '79 or '80. I think it was when War with the Newts was playing. He came in to the basement, where I had set up what I believe was London's first electronic games department, and played for ages with a quiz robot. He had a small group of followers and a large bottle of red wine. A highly memorable afternoon.

I saw Hitchickers Guide at the ICA on the hover seating and War with the Newts. I also believed that he did a production of Capek's Rossum's Universal Robots, but maybe the combination of War with the Newts and the Robot toy generated a false memory.

Coincidentally, Tom Conti also came to the shop and bought a video game. I have to apologise to Nina if she was given a sub-par video game with joysticks that broke too easily. It looked good at the time but lost out to the Atari.

I saw him play in a bbc episode of sherlock holmes starring jeremy brett called "The Blue Carbuncle". I enjoyed his performance very ill watch it now lol

I love him. I wish I could find some reference (which I think was true) to a Prussian cavalry officer who vanished into thin air. I think he said it was from a long out of print book called X. Or he might have told me about it in the interval during Furtive Nudist. I’ve ordered the book, what a fantastic evening! Unforgettable.
