Is It Possible To Make A Perimeter Without TNT in 1.17?

I'm checking how much effort it will take to make a perimeter with the new world generation and grimstone being not instant mineable. I also discuss a viable alternative to mining and TNT duping.

The netherite pickaxe is the only tool that dosen't have any special instamining properties ( you can instamine anything you can with a diamond pickaxe with a netherite pickaxe ) I think that grimstone should fill that gap and make it so that you need an efficiency 5 netherite pickaxe with haste two in order to mine.

I like how moss is a viable option for perimeter building, it adds a little bit of variety to the process

I think the most feasible thing Mojang can do is make Netherite Efficiency 5 Haste 2 pickaxes able to insta-mine Grimstone, but Diamond ones cannot. That way the logic of the block being harder the lower you are can be retained without sacrificing the ability to insta-mine.

I think mojang has said that if they remove TNT duping they will add a suitable alternative, so we shouldn't be too worried about not being able to make perimiters/other things like it.

I wonder if mojang will ever change it so there is something between instamine and the current fastest non instamine speed, that harsh boundary between going at 1 block per tick and 1 block per 8 ticks is quite insane.

honestly without tnt duping or sand duping, making a perimeter is impossible for normal player.
Because, you come back from works/schools and you just mine for several day or even weeks ? as a team maybe but in solo just unthinkable.

I feel like you're not counting the fact that there are a lot more big caves below y=0, of course, every block that is occupied by a cave wouldn't need to be mined, I don't think it is that big of a difference, but I don't think it is negligible either

Netherite picks need just enough of a speed boost to instamine stone with Efficiency V & Haste I and grimstone with Efficiency V and Haste II.

At the moment, there's not a big enough incentive to get netherite tools when the only real difference is durability and you can get unlimited free diamond tools from villagers.
