I show the problems with the Westinghouse iGen4500 Inverter Generator right out of the box. If you're gonna buy one just know what you are getting into. It's a problem that has existed since it was first introduced 3 years ago and never remedied.

I've had mine for about a year. Started it 2 days ago in -12 degree weather and it started right up and worked perfectly. I have 89 hours on mine with absolutely no issues.

Thanks for posting this video. Just got my generator today. This information will come in handy. This issue with the choke is covered in the user manual. Also the manual says the battery charger is Not a trickle charger. Use no longer than eight (8) hrs. Over night.

I've had mine for 2 months worked great out of the box and still works when I need it to. Luck of the draw, maybe but so very happy. This replaced a champion 3200 geni

I hope you understand that the choke has a small wire that can become disconnected. Plug it back in itll work fine. Many videos showing how to fix it in less than 10min

You are right about warranty claims on most equipment, especially stuff bought from big box stores, like Lowe’s or Home Depot. I have very seldom returned new stuff for warranty service. I don’t even know why they put that crap in the owners manual. Normally Lowe’s, Walmart or Home Depot give you a couple of weeks to return defective equipment and they deal with the manufacturer. Stihl and Husqvarna dealers will usually warranty products from the dealer you return them to.

I had one of these Generators. I bought it in January 2019 and sold it with my camper in 2020. I never had trouble out of it. I have used it a whole weekend without shutting it down for my RV that had two A/C units. I could run one A/C unit with all the lights on but not both A/C units. My A/C units are 15, 500 btu. It ran quiet and worked really well. I would buy another one. Don't trust Honda and Yamaha either, they all have their problems are they are too expensive. Nothing wrong with what you have. I'll give you $500 for it if you really want to get rid on it.

I agree, just purchased one a few months ago. So far so good 👌👍.

The fuel cut off is an amazing feature. Really surprised Champion didn’t have that. Despite the choke issue, which can be fixed, I’d go with this one just for the easier way to keep the carb clean with the fuel cut off.

Awesome video! When I buy anything I always look for the least amount of whistles and bells... I have a Honda 2200 and it’s a nice generator but very prone to fuel issues, like Mike said it doesn’t allow the carb to drain and problems occur when it sits a few months without running. Thanks King!!! 😃👍

Road king I have the same generator that had the same issue. I pulled mine apart and found a disconnected wire to the choke. I traced the wires back to the control board. Was an easy fix

Westinghouse customer service is the worst. First one had a bad inverter. Been 3 weeks and still can't get a single call back from customer service. Got a good deal on it. So, returned for replacement. Replacement came in today. Last Westinghouse product I will ever use. Simply for the non existence of customer support.

There is a choke cable harness that becomes unplugged. If you remove the side cover and front cover you can get to the cable and plug it back in. The harness is to control the carburetor

$1237 Onan or $700 Westinghouse for the essentially the same machine. If the choke is the only difference, it's worth the $500 in savings FOR ME. My needs and abilities are different than others. Thank you for the video. Wonderful information.

I'm a retired Appliance repairman-
We always referred to that brand as "We-Sting-Who-Use" instead of Westinghouse

I have the 11Kw and the manual does say to check the internal choke valve which should be closed long terme. Works very well.

Your generator has a flex cable with a ball end connection that runs from the rotary switch (on the control panel) to the choke.
It simply came off the choke lever.

Also sometimes I do not turn the fuel all the way on if it doesn't start the first time. Move the fuel switch halfway and it will start right up.

I just bought a Champion 9200 watt for $899 was $1300 Canadian. It's hardwired into house will run mostly everything at once. Almost bought the mate to this Champion a Westinghouse but glad i didn't now. Good luck hopefully you get choke issue resolved

I just dragged home a little Honeywell 6066 the other day out of the trash.First one I've ever found. Looks like the recoil spring broke and unspooled upon the previous owners last start of it. It mangled the hell out of the plastic flywheel fan, and busted or cut it's way through the fiberglass engine casing. I changed the starter cup and put a different recoil on it. It runs and makes power. I'll likely replace the recoil assembly with the right one if it runs consistently well.
