chickens were kind of a last minute addition so we didn't brine them; 2 hr sous vide then cooked on the spit for 2-3 hours

I was waiting for some kind of ancient Pagan deities to descend and bless the event. I could picture Thor or Hercules walking over, yanking an enormous bone from the table, gnawing on it and clapping the guy with the early 80's gel-cut and 'stache on the back with a hearty "WELL DONE, MORTAL! VERILY HATH THEE DONE JUSTICE TO THIS HAUNCH OF BEAST!"

Really. It looked that damned good. Also I would make sweet, sweet love to that pan of potatoes.
