All those years, when Sony cameras had bad ergonomics, it was not such a big problem, was it? But now it is a big plus (to be as good as other brands have been for decades since the latter had no ill-conceived ideas to make the camera as small as possible but always knew it had to work with adult hands and big lenses). Also, have you never seen a camera with a CCD sensor? These older design all had global shutters but of course because of the "oh so so important" video functionality, these sensors stood no chance against CMOS sensors (which had worse noise back then).
