I cannot help but to wonder how many core or central components inside the airplanes are made by home grown chinese companies? Nonetheless this is a good progress for the chinese aviation industry no doubt about that. They are now capable of assembling a functioning aeroplane on their own.

The C919 has started the import substitution of Boeing and Airbus airliner jets and also starting China's commercial aircraft industry. Hopefully it grows as big as China's ship building industry. I suspect many foreign airlines will start buying once EU certification is complete and the airplanes are in service for say 5 years to gauge OPEX.
