Good advice on relationships years ago from both Cait and Sam, who are like minded in their opinions on the given situations. The interview still holds true years later.

Sam seems curiously uncomfortable and nervous with the line of questions. Possibly the interviewer senses that Sam in his inner heart carries a big secret crush about Cait. At this point seven years ago, Cait and future husband to be Tony McGill had been going out for awhile and were likely just engaged to be married, so she was recently “unavailable” and “off the marriage market” at the time as they say. Sam being a total gentleman, has resigned himself to “just being a close friend” with his Outlander co-star, and has resigned himself to the reality of the situation. Still, this interview does bring out that he “still carries the torch for her” in some way. He probably uses those real life feelings for Cait in the TV series to flesh out the loving feelings of Jamie for his soulmate Claire, and makes the actors all the more believable in their respective roles on the show. Hard on Sam though, I would imagine.

{chuckles} Age is truly just a number. I did crack up over some of the ways they answered these, but I wanted to put the following thoughts out there.

I have been with my husband for over 24 years and married for over 22 years now. He is 15 and a half years older than I am. We married when I was 22, and he was almost 38. I'm 44 now, and he just turned 60. I love him more every day, and we are still greatly happy. You can't set a years apart measure for success on life and relationships. Some are good or bad no matter the age spread. There are many factors and things to consider when working on a relationship. I don't feel that age should ever been one of them.
