preview_player
Показать описание
The new world setting for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons is Theros, adapted from the rich lore of the Magic the Gathering card game multiverse. Theros is inspired directly by ancient Greek myth and legend, as well as modern films and comics such as Wonderwoman and Clash of the Titans.

Ah the ever expanding number of locations to visit with a spelljammer.

SMH, when I suggested a Homebrew campaign inspired by the myths and legends of Ancient Greece, my friends laughed and said such a setting wouldn't work because it would cut out most of what made D&D what it is. Now look what we have here!

You would too, if it floated over your house while you slept.

Look closely at the picture of Arixmethes (the island), you may notice that it is on the back of a kraken (the actual Arixmethes).

You should do a video on the pantheon of Theros. Lots of interesting gods and stories in there.

So we have a proper D&D world of Greek Mythology! Oh boy this is going to be a wild book. Now I feel a little bitter about Irish Mythology not being popular enough to get a world setting in 5E .

It’s really cool how mtg settings are coming to dnd. I’ve never really played mtg because of how expensive it is, but I’ve always loved the art and the lore

13:42 This is an absolutely gorgeous piece of art, but those animals do not look happy about this woman's dancing at all😂

Bear: "Hey! It's been 3 days. Enough already! The drums are keeping my kids awake"

Tiger: No one cares!"

One of the designers of Theros knew nothing about Greek Mythology when they worked on it, they said it was their Achilles Horse.

If I remember correctly notable locations include:
Meletis (think Athens)
Akros (think Sparta)
Setessa (think Wonder Woman's home, not gonna bother spelling it, I will fail to do so)
Skophos (Minotaur's Labrinth, only it's a city, aka a polis, for the minotaur that inhabit Theros)
Nykthos (realm of the gods)

Gods and Goddesses of Theros:
Heliod, God of the Sun
Erebos, God of the Dead
Purphoros, God of the Forge
Nylea, Goddess of the Hunt
Thassa, Goddess of the Sea
Klothys, Goddess of Destiny
Karametra, Goddess of the Harvest
Phenax, God of Deception
Pharika, Goddess of Afflictions
Keranos, God of Storms
Kruphix, God of Horizons
Emphara, Goddess of the Polis
Iroas, God of Victory
Mogis, God of Slaughter
Athreos, God of Passage
Xenagos, God of Revels (deceased, killed by Elspeth Tirel)

Two of the known Titans (elder Giants) are Uro, the Titan of Nature's Wrath and Kroxa, the Titan of Endless Hunger

All of this MtG crossover material is going to force me into actually playing the card game!

Intriguing setting. Interesting how the seas of this very *Greek* world are teeming with Kraken, a very *Norse* monster (I blame Clash of the Titans, I mean what, was Cetus not a good enough monster to eat a chained princess? XD)

I must say the setting has grabbed my interest. Hope you make more vids fleshing out the places and lore AJ. Great video. 🍻

I'm into both D&D and MTG, so seeing books coming out like Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica and Mythic Odysseys of Theros is exciting to me. A blending of my two favorite hobbies. I've even managed to get a few of my MTG playing friends to try D&D because of them.

I wonder if they'll cross over to Mirrodin/New Phyrexia eventually? That Plane rides the line between Science Fiction & High Fantasy as much as Spelljammer.
