Find your leak, fix it. Clean your carb and fuel tank, change fuel filter. Should have a decent boat.

Clean the gas tank, replace the fuel pickup screen, fuel line, fuel filter, and clean the carb. Your problem is a dirty fuel system.

Head gasket. Mine did exact same thing. It will only get worse, runs great cold but once on the water it won't start. Eventually it will barely run at all. Easy way to check, run it on the lake and then idle for a few minutes, let it cool then pull spark plugs, if they are wet with water you have a leaking head gasket. If you replace it make sure the surfaces are flat before reassembling. I did mine myself and it runs great now. Also, do not turn the motor in the opposite direction than it runs or you will damage water pump impeller. I will be in Mineral Wells this weekend and I can fix for you.

hey rob my old1984 peptobismol, miralax duracraft with a 2 stroke yamadog 85 on a 15'6" boat was acting the same way. i dumped all the gas and carb cleaned everything and flushed the lines. been running like a top ever sense. i added 28" to the front deck coated it in camo sea deck and now she smokes more but . it hauls az
