It's so cool that your channel used to be comedic outdoor related content and now it's the channel to go to for impossible good photos of something nearly impossible to photograph. Pretty rad.

I'm a retired professional photographer and a few years ago took up knife sharpening. I've really enjoyed your channel for quite some time. Additionally, I really appreciate the increased production value of your content. You do a great job of informing your audience with much improved audio, video and the detailed micro / macro photography - all combined with a dash of humor. Thank you again for all of your great content and hard work.

I think you are starting to keep the stone companys in check.

I have not seen anyone else look that close at the edge that different stones produce.
Keep it up man, its what we all need!!!!

Hi. Im a chef from Germany and i have like 30 waterstones (shapton, naniwa, sigma etc.) and 8 diamond stones from Dmt and Atoma. Saw this Stone but the Amazon reviews where not so good. A few month ago, I decided to purchase this stone to left it in the Kitchen at work, and I can confirm everything you said. The Atoma is equaly consistent and for me sharpening a little bit better, but I dont like the feeling. Dmt has some very big particles, for me the feeling and shatpness is also a bit better, but they grain size is much more uniform on the sharpal.

So you get a perfectly flat, very good feeling, uniformely coated Diamond stone in two absolutely perfect grit sizes in a very very nice Box. The Box alone makes me so happy, because it realy perfectly fits, and finaly doesnˋt slip. For this money I cant recommend it enough, and i'm happy, that i didn't believed the Amazon reviews. Before my recommendation for professional chefs (not sushi masters:-)) was a shapton professional 1000 and Nanowa Chosera 2000, now its this stone, for even better finish the Chosera 2000 is still awsome for stainless kitchen knives. Greetings to everyone from Hamburg/Germany. Tim

I bought this 3 years ago as my first proper diamond stone (it's weird to call it stone... plate?) and nice to know it's approved from a pro I trust :)
I don't sharpen often, maybe once a month or so and it still feels like new. The stand/case is also very good and doesn't glide around. You get value for your money.

To anybody reading this i live in the UK just ordered the sharpal from America. It is insane. I can’t believe how good it is. Best thing I’ve ever bought even sharpens the rubbish knives I’ve got it becomes obsessive, just brilliant.

Would you be willing to buy another and use your cool scope to check for quality control ? Maybe multiple

Awesome video; just picked up a Sharpal 162N myself.
PS. the amazon link you provided is for the 156N - which is the 6in x 2.5in model. For those wondering, the 162N is the 8in x 3in model.

I feel so happy now because just last week I ordered that same diamond stone and loved it. I got all my knives very sharp quickly with the help of your videos.

Exactly what I wanted to start non guided sharpening. A good quality two sided diamond plate with a box/support and a guide for a reasonable price.

We have been selling these stones at the local Woodcraft I work at for a couple years. I've sold dozens of them and absolutely zero problems. It's nice to see someone else acknowledge the quality of these stones. They are better by far than Trend and better by a not insignificant amount than DMT, which is saying a lot as DMT makes great stones. I have been using four of these in my sharpening class for two years and have yet to even begin wearing one out. It's always the first diamond stone I recommend for someone starting out. or someone who just wants a great stone. We have problems keeping them in stock as they sell pretty much as soon as they come in. What you found with your one stone believe me translates to all of them.

Sharpal recently came out with a 4" by 10" diamond flattening plate for waterstones that I have yet to try out, but expect it to be amazing. Don't know how they do it for the price, but I hope they keep it up.

I have been using this for 3+ years. The course side died when I put it away wet and corrosion managed to get under the plating. The fine side is still fantastic. I bought another course diamond stone to replace the ruined course on the sharpal and haven't been impressed. Seeing your video reinforced the fact that I was using a great stone and have ordered a new one before the sell out because of your review.

I very nearly commented on this stone after that comment about double sided stones. I bought this a few weeks ago as a junker to learn with. The stone I received is pretty much like yours and the grit sizes were pretty consistent under my microscope. One extra data point on whether you got a freak great one.

Your sharpening advises really help!
I wasn't even think of forming the burr, that helps my knives achive shaving sharp.

This was the first stone that I bought when I first decided that I wanted to sharpen my own knives. I was worried about it after seeing your last video, so I'm really happy to see this video.

Bought one of these stones a week ago (finally back in stock). First diamond stone for me and was purchased solely because of this review that I respect. Very amateur sharpener here, BTW.

I finally had a stone big/aggressive enough to sharpen my block plane, and I also changed the angle of my Ka-Bar pocket knife from 22.5 to 20 degrees (AUS 8A Stainless Steel). Both went really quick, and had a nice clean shaving-sharp edge off the 1200 side. The included "training wheels" angle guide was a great touch, and stows well in the carrying case.

Hair-whittling sharp will have to wait until I can re-dress my tired chromium oxide-laden strop with some diamond paste. Overall very happy with the stone.
