Let’s talk about Accutane! The drug, also known as isotretinoin, has a number of side effects to take into consideration before starting. In this video I am sharing everything I have learned while taking it and what I wish I knew before starting Accutane.

100% worth it for me. I took it when I was 16 and had terrible acne. All of the side effects you mentioned, I dealt with. The worst were the nose bleeds, the DRY LIPS, oh and I was SO IRRITABLE. Nonetheless, it was worth it. I rarely get acne as a 25 year old, with the occasional breakout of maybe two or three little zits, but nothing severe at all.

I've been dealing with acne on my face, chest and back for 7 years now and my dermatologist recommended accutane to me and I'll be honest my biggest fear is the hair thinning because it stays with you after you finish the treatment. And my favorite feature about myself to me atleast is my hair.

accutane caused telogen effluvium hair loss for me in month 2, on a low dose. Its been 6 months since i quit early (when hair came out in huge amounts) and my hairs 50% THINNER and my crown and temples are very thin and scalp shows.
I am waiting to see a 2nd derm but the first said it may or may not be PERMENENT. Going on accutane was the biggest regret of my life. It also messed up my eyes and gave me dry eye disease

I’m 16, and I’m going on accutane. My acne has actually gone away some what, but when I get breakouts they are very painful. I’m honestly nervous of the side effects.

Hi there! Really nice video. I've also been on isotretinoin for 2 months now. My hair used to be extremely greasy but now you can barely see any difference between wash times. I also experience the joint pain of an 80 year old lmao
I didn't know these were side-effects of isotretinoin, nice to know that it's not something I should be worried about.
Keep up the good work!

I took Accutane as a teenager. Took birth control to prevent any pregnancies. However, I slipped up and missed two pills. I found out that I was pregnant, immediately stopped Accutane but the damage had been done by then. My baby had already formed a "water head" and I eventually miscarried. I've been so scared to try Accutane ever since, even with the clearing of my acne.

Thank you for this, I am about to take it, beginning of September, and I’m pretty scared there was so many side effects to read and that scared me more and I have to do it while going to school so people are going to point out my dry skin but this was really informational for me I think I’m a little less scared now, also good luck :)

The reason im asking is because i had such severe stomach problems and mental problems to the point to where they were debilitating and in most cases disabling

As a teen twenty years ago I had bad cystic acne . It cleared up my acne but I would not recommend taking this drug after taking this drug I became extremely nervous, severe dry lips, and got severe panic attacks . To this day my acne has cleared up but I have being on edge for twenty years and where I had severe cysts ( on my temple ) my skin goes numb from time to time

in australia we don’t have to get our blood drawn every month or go back every month… my dermatologist gave me 6 repeats and our next consultation is in 6 months

Did it take anybody else 3 months or so before they started seeing results from accurate? I’m a big guy at 6’2 240 and I started out at 20 mg per day the first month and have progressively went up to 60 mg a day on this 3rd month. I’m not seeing much results on chest acne. hoping it works eventually!

If they are worried about any of your organs like liver kidney etc they are looking at, if your liver levels are low they’ll take you off the med.

Also had to cancel my rhinoplasty because I found out that you shouldn’t do any type of surgery while on accutain

My first round my body had a great response, was only on it for 8 weeks or so. Had to stop because of my liver.

I've been battling acne for a whopping 12 years, trying out different medications along the way. It feels like a never-ending cycle – just when I think I'm in the clear, those pesky breakouts return. Now, I'm considering accutane. When you mentioned having to get my blood drawn every month, could you explain what exactly that mean?

I had severe acne through my entire teen years and into my early 20s. I met a number of dermatologists that never asked me about my diet but were quick to put me on medication that did not work. One dr prescribed accutane right away (circa 2007) and I was handed a thick book that talked about the side effects. I was already aware of accutane and told the dr I am not doing it, he said find another dr then. A few years later I decided to do a holistic approach on my own and cut dairy out of my diet. My skin cleared within a few weeks! I was like wow, I was embarrassed during my teen years and destroyed my skin when all I had to do was adjust my diet! I am so ticked off at dermatologists, I do not trust them.

Hello mam I had taken isotretinoin for three months till march and again in this month I had taken isotretinoin again for 15 days, now I have stopped and I have been planning to conceive in the next 2 months? I know you have said it takes atleast 6 months but my dermatologist have said it will take only a month. So can you please give an insight on this, I am really worried. :(

It would be highly appreciable if you reply

I’m praying for you, bc my brother & I both did Accutane years ago around 1993 & 1995 & we both ended up getting cancer 😢 He got stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1997 & I got Malignant Melanoma in 2001. This is why I’m praying for you, bc Accutane is very dangerous years after you’ve had it. I myself took the pills & my brother did the shots. So; no matter which form a person does it’s still very dangerous!
