I've never thought of the jerk string. That's a great idea. I've done the same basic thing laying the cordage in an S down and back making a loop up there the same way so you pull the cord under itself at the end. So you get to the same place with less waste.

Very nice Dave, that should hold forever. The only thing I might have done different was to put two grooves down the sides of your handle and make the net loop disappear into the handle. That would also keep if from possibly twisting as well. Love your videos. Keep them coming. BTW, what ever happened to the Wilderness Outfitters channel?

I've always started sheer lashings with a clove hitch. Is there an advantage to using the timber hitch? Love your videos. I've learned so much watching them. Thanks for all you do.

Same way you finish a bow serving or wrappings on a fishing rod

So, basically you're using whipping technic for rope on this handle.

I worked a binder at Shakertown- and wondered how it had been done earlier on. Thanks to you, now I know!

Great advice... I've struggled in the past finding a good way to tie off a lashing neatly and tight. Thanks for this!
