As a former ERL coach, i've been saying this for the longest time, expecially in metas when supoort items are really strong and rushing them has a great impsct on rotations. Had to teach gm/chall supports how to ward properly around the game state and around objectives in certaine match-ups and situations

I just stopped buying them. It also helps stunt enemy support income because I clear all their control wards but they can’t clear mine since there are none. -105 gold for them every time I clear one

The one interesting thing about this is, if the meta shifted to support players buying way less control wards, it would improve the strength of trinket and support item wards, which would then make players want to buy more control wards again.

My honest hot take on this is that sweepers are simply too strong, warding should be more meaningful whether it's trinkets, support or control wards. If Riot nerfed sweepers and then nerfed the amount of stealth wards in the game (increase trinket cooldown, less wards per back on support item) people would be forced to learn how to use control wards effectively instead of spam buying them and placing them everywhere they can.

It's simple misunderstanding of how powerspikes work. People from all different kinds of games and even skill levels can understand powerspikes and up/downsides of delaying them. Some people never get confronted for their mistakes or aren't interested in getting better.
