Awesome video!  I have 5 small Archerfish.  This is the 2nd time I have kept them.  They are amazing.  Surprisingly mine have done well in a African Cichlid tank (Peacocks).  They seem to be left alone and can defend themselves if they need to.  I subscribed and liked.

Question - when you first purchased these guys, what did you do for a QT tank? I am looking to add on a few additions, but there are no good places to buy locally anymore, which means I need to buy online and am a little concerned by how listings may incorrectly identify the species. If I open up the bag and find that it is NOT T. jaculatrix or chatareus, I have a freshwater species I have no experience with and it seems almost certain that, even if it did get along with the 7-spot residents, that the slightly brackish water would be a problem. Further, I would not have a suitable freshwater QT tank with an established biological filter and I assume you cannot 'seed' a FW tank using bacteria taken from a brackish tank...and given the brackish archerfish needs very clean water, I assume the freshwater species do as well, meaning it would be just a matter of time until ammonia causes major harm. Even worse, given the two brackish archerfish species can look deceptively the same, do the freshwater species look so similar that I may not be able to even identify them correctly?

I've battled through finding the best way to harden my extremely soft water and then hold the pH to avoid drift. I've figured out that my water also lacks the trace elements that it seems, without question, the 7-spot archerfish needs for good health, giving to the need to add a lot of trace elements and minerals to the water (in addition to the diet.) I've figured out which tall tank the fishies like the most, and how to minimize the chance of injury when jumping. But I cannot figure out this last part.

If nothing else, is their a reputable archerfish dealer that is kind of a counter to a seller like Disqus Hans? I'd more than be willing to pay a premium for a dealer that goes above and beyond to raise and correctly identify healthy stock...for example, I would love to know the water parameters BEFORE purchasing so that my QT tank can be prepped to similar conditions to reduce stress and maximize the chance of success. I have always avoided these.. I have no idea why.  It may have been the brackish aspect.  I should just throw in the town and do a brackish tank.  I could get a violet goby then too which would be cool.  They prefer similar set ups dont they?
