Protraction vs Retraction of the Scapula, Shoulders | Anatomy Body Movement Terms

Показать описание
Protraction and retraction are special body movement terms involving the scapulae (or shoulder blades). These terms are used in anatomy and the healthcare professions to assess patients for mobility and to document.

Protraction involves the moving of the scapulae forward (anteriorly) and toward the side of the body (laterally), in an anterolateral movement.

Retraction involves the moving of the scapulae back (posteriorly) and toward the body's midline (medially), in a posteromedial movement.

Here's a simple mnemonic to help you with these body movement terms: Punch to protract; reach back to retract.

Sorry for commenting something not related to the video, but next Friday I’m getting a blood test for the first time and I’m very needle shy, so to say. What should I tell the people there to make it easier for everyone? (Again sorry for the not related comment)
