Methadone to Suboxone

I’ll tell you one thing I’ve been on Suboxone for two years I haven’t touched a single substance since, but when I started I went 26 hours without fentanyl and I then took Suboxone an went straight into precipitated withdrawals and it was horrible I mean I pulled a bunch of muscles was having auditory hallucinations, and my wife is a nurse and she took me to the hospital because I was completely out of it it looked like I was having an exorcism with all the muscle spasms and other stuff that was going on it’s no joke thank you Dr. B!! Keep doing what you’re doing you’re helping save so many lives 😊

Bernese method is the way to go. Most people can't take the withdrawal in the time between the methadone and the suboxone initiation

I had a friend who switched and she didn't listen to the doc and it caused the withdrawals and I had to run her legs and massage as much as I could cause she was miserable. Hard headed! Thank goodness I was never on methadone.... Suboxone has been wonderful. October 14, 2019 is my clean date because Suboxone works so well for me.

the best way is to do nothing.
I'm close to 4 years without opiates. I tapered off methodone to zero. it's really tough. but the feeling of not needing pharmaceutical drugs is so worth it. I fully understand the difficulty of doing this. it CAN be done.

I’ve been documenting my methadone detox. I was at a 160mg daily dose and 6 mgs of Klonopin. I’m now over 2 years methadone free. It’s a trip to say the least!! I’m throwing out healing vibes for everyone. Stay strong warriors!!! 💪✌️❤️

Suboxone did nothing for my methadone withdrawals. Ended up at the ER where I got a prescription of clonidine, a BP medicine, which did wonders for me. I’m toughing it out & after 30 years……I’m finally done with all of it!

Why dont you mention the timeline? Depending on how long youve been on methadone but youre gonna have to wait minimum 48-72 hrs. Youre just gonna have to be sick for like 3 days before you can switch

My biggest issue with getting off suboxone is the depression. It’s so intense I can barely cope. FAR worse than any depression I’ve had outside of withdrawal symptoms.

It’s actually get the person to their withdrawal dose. Wait at least 24-36 hours. And then start with .5 mg every 3 hours for 24 hrs and then double for another 12 hrs and then at the peak take two 8mg and then start taking an 8mg every 6-8 hrs… depending on tolerance and comfort level. I switched and I was on methadone for 12 years. I had 3 kids while on methadone and my highest dose was 240mg. My withdrawal dose was 60mg. I’m still adjusting and it’s been almost 3 months. But it is possible!

At my clinic they get your methadone down to 70 and start a 5 day microdose of Suboxone to build up so on day 6 no more methadone and just 2 8mg Suboxones. You stay at 70mg of methadone all 5 days. Alot of people have done this

I have been on methadone for 3 years. My titration consisted of .5mg every two weeks starting at 95mg until I reached 3.5ML which is 35mgs. I have been up to 120mg before, and truth be told 140 because I abused my take homes. I've been down to 35mg for a week and I'm on day 4 of no methadone and I'm experiencing what I would call withdrawals that are mild. Headache, low energy, restless legs and arms, stuffy nose, gooseflesh. I'm so scared to take this 1/4 of this strip right now.

Dear God, I wish I saw this before I switched because I only way to 36 hours in between a methadone dose and suboxane, and I went through the worst withdraws I’ve ever felt in my life

Its rough and I would add to stabalize at 30mg because if you drop down from like 90 to 30 for just a few days thats going to cause precipitated withdrawal. I know from experience and it sucked.

over here, they are micro dosing subutex, and dose taper and as the methadone dose lowers, your subtext goes up. over two weeks Max. my friend did this from 100mgs methadone, and did this in the community. She was fine, and feels much better.

I have never ever seen my stepdad go to the hospital before unless he is really sick and thinks he's dying or else he does not like hospitals and won't go. He is on methadone and one day he accidentally mistaken a Subutex for his blood pressure meds and accidentally took it and it threw him into withdrawals so bad he was begging to go to the hospital that's why you have to wait and stay off of methadone for a couple of days before you get on Suboxone or Subutex

How long do you have to wait when your ditching from 30mg of methadone and going to subs? Like 2 days or 3 days . Can you let me know Dr. B ?

I do both, methadone for 6 years and them swich to subuxone but what happen when you want to quit subuxone well its the same shit of methadone not easy to quit, 2 times in detox 1 week and 3 weeks and can't detox subuxone so i go back to methadone for 13 more years, finally 11 months ago i get out and today i still feel like shit and i mind it, this 2 drugs are the worst to detox, if you can get clean and don't use any of this drugs you will be better ok.
