*REMASTERED* - Queen: '39 (Live at Hammersmith Odeon: 26/12/1979)
Both audio and video wise, Sikke (QUEEN LEGACY CHANNEL) is to thank for sharing the snippet from his copy of the video feed. If you've heard that source before, you're probably thinking it sounded quite a bit different to this, in which case you're right! I'm know next to nothing about EQing. However, I accidentally discovered how clean this source really is when it's not drowned out with bass. In which case I boosted the treble all the way up. A downside to this was it made the source sound a bit flat and hollow. This is where the audience recording from Wardour comes in. Matrixed with the main source of course, I found boosting the bass of the audience made for a nicer overall balance.
The video remains the same as it was presented on Sikke's upload as the colours are already really good! The level of detail missing from the darker areas isn't possible to regenerate once it's gone I'm afraid, but this is still the best source available to us for this performance as the other ones have some sort of VHS artifact.
Also mentioned in the community post, these *remasters* of certain Hammersmith 1979 performances I'm putting out will merely be considered as placeholders in the grand scheme of things. On the subject of EQing, there's a new master on the horizon by the name of 'ManyMilesAway'. He's currently working on an all-new updated version of this show and has been posting teasers on his YouTube channel which are on another level! Keep your eyes peeled and go over to his channel for exciting updates as they happen and have a listen to his previous work 😁
