Shot mentored by Ray Ross. Featured in Animation Mentor's Showcase Reel 2019.
Bag rig by Richard Van Hult.

Continuing with my "I can't show anything from the movie I'm working on and I'm being too lazy at home to animate" series, finally sharing the reference and progress for one of my favourite shots of mine.

Oh man, this is a tough one to share progress, because I was basically learning how to do acting and lip sync for the first time and let's just say.. it didn't go well in one try xD (this is for all of you saying I'm "talented", I'm not, I just didn't sleep through AM)

I'm very proud of this shot because aside from the uphill battle, thanks to my amazing mentor Ray Ross, I started to "unlock" some of the secrets of animation :P He taught us how to *think* like animators and not just animate for the sake of animation. What is the subtext, how can you push the poses, why are the characters doing what they are doing? (And so much more, just go take his class, seriously. 100/10 recommend).

Also, I'm proud of this one because in a moment of inspiration/boredom I decided to change how I entered the screen and it made all the difference! Lesson: don't stick to whatever you did on your first try of shooting reference! Try something completely different each time, play with depth, use the screen space as much as you can (if the shot calls for it).

Wow, if this is a shot from introduction to acting, I can't imagine how a shot from Advance acting is going to look! Amazing!

Does most students had a career before entering AM? I am thinking about studying there after I finish my college and during work.

Is this really a thing where you can do actions in front of a camera and makes in to an animation with the movements you just did ? If so how do I get this program ?
