What is Sansamed?
We at Sansamed know that medicine can be difficult at times, understanding basic medical concepts and processes can be very frustrating which brings us to our main goal which will be to produce videos that hopefully would make medicine simpler and more fun to understand.

What is hemostasis:
Hemostasis is the process of inhibiting blood loss, the process is done by coagulation. Coagulation is conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin. This is a protective mechanism that normally plugs the injured area in order to prevent further damage to our body. Both its overactivity and underactivity can be pathological and harm us. Coagulation system is part of vascular response in inflammation. In the following videos we will discuss normal state, injured state, pathologies and a summery of it all.

What is the clotting cascade, kallikrenin system and what regulates them?
The clotting factors are synthesized mainly by the liver and some of them by platelets. The function of these are to reinforce the primary hemostatic plug, so that it will not dissolve prior to the healing of the injured area. The final product here is fibrin that stabilizes the plug. The kallikrenin system function is to produce bradykinin.
