What a wonderful tale, wonderfully told. Thank you. Yes, all Irish blood from my father, and through my mother, my grandfather from Abergele plus 4 convicts from 2nd Fleet. I'm moving more towards my Celtic beliefs and practices. Thank you from Australia

Just re-listened to your excellent retelling of the Oldest Animals in Culhwch and Olwen and have read through the comments. I found your exchange with Tim Hawthorn particularly interesting. I have a different perspective which may be of interest to you. Search Mabinogion Astronomy. Look for the post entitled The Route of the Oldest Animals, please leave a comment if you do. Many thanks,

The problem I have with this question is the word « god ». Most of the characters in Celtic tales are heroes with demi-god-like attributes to varying degrees, we don't have evidence that they were the focus of worship or regarded any differently from ancestors, famous historical characters, nature spirits or faery-folk. I think "The son of the mother" was an important archetypal concept, but I don't think he was any more a "god" than a Shinto Kami.
