Baby Walrus Adjusts to Big City Life

Mitik the baby walrus was orphaned off the coast of Barrow, Alaska, and rescued by fishermen. After a stint at the Alaska SeaLife Center, he has moved to his new home at the New York Aquarium where he is receiving round-the-clock care from the staff.

I've literally been sitting here for the past hour and a half watching walrus videos.

It's impossible not to immediately fall in love with these big, sweet, babies even just through a video. These beautiful animals exude and embody love and all you want to do is return it in kind. The people that get to work with them on the daily are so blessed.

I've seen other videos about rescued baby walruses and they all show how the babies want to snuggle with their caretakers! They're so cute!

It's a silly hope of mine, that someday all animals in zoos and aquariums will be non-returnable rescues. No more captive breeding, but steady wild populations that are closely monitored. When an animal is injured, the critter will be promptly brought to a wildlife hospital and given treatment. If the animal can't survive in the wild, then it will go to a zoo or aquarium to spend it's life as an animal ambassador. I feel like that's a good compromise. Cute baby walrus. This little baby walrus relies on being taken care of by humans he needs humans to domesticate him.
I hope he stays within the sanctury for good and gets all the love and care he needs.
he is such a beautiful little animal creature he deserves loads of protection and respect by those who nurture him :) so cute he is lovely little boy.
