BTW the Gammaxx 200T is $15, not $115, sorry I often become distracted when fondling heatsinks.

Hey Steve, just wanted to say that there's actually a vapor chamber in the Wraith Spire it's not just a copper baseplate.

Very interesting seeing the 200T do a better job at VRM cooling. I do wonder why that is, I always assumed it would be the other way round.

Anyone else catch that he said that the Gammaxx 200T costs “$115.00 US on amazon”?

Great video, I love that you benchmark these coolers in a case that represents real world, rather than a benchmark with every thing out in the open as many people have done!

Thank you for this video! It may be 2 years old, but was very nice for me in deciding which cpu cooler to get. (Was worried that the Prism I bought mainly for the RGB would be too weak.)

I feel this gets heavily overlooked in the price comparison between Intel and AMD chips, as this is easily another 20 bucks in AMD's favor, Especially since even the flagship comes with a cooler (cough 8700k). This is why when I made 6 systems last year, 4 with a 1600 and 2 with a 1700, I told all to not worry about a cpu cooler (they all came from intel systems).

perfect timing Steve im just got my 2700x and i have a liquid cooler so im giving my brother my wraith prism for his r5 1600 and hoping i can get a 4ghz OC or 3.9ghz
if i didnt have the 240mm aio that i got on sale for 40 USD(master liquid by CM) i would use that wraith prism.

Nice one, I'm using a Wraith that came with my FX-8370; its the same as a Prism minus the RGB. On my 1700X it keeps temps between 50 and 60'C in gaming and between 2 and 5 degrees above ambient when doing basic browsing. Very happy to have an all-AMD system!

Bought a Prism for €22 including shipping yesterday. Most others are asking €30 without shipping for those. For €22 i got a nice upgrade for my R5 1600.

I requested it mostly for use in small form factor plans. I'm just now getting to oc my 1700 and will be getting a cooler. I may keep/ use the spire for a planned htpc build in the future depending on how it works out.

Thanks, it's nice to have cooler data to compare to.

Cool review ! I just upgraded to a Ryzen 5 2600. Although I was able to overclock it with stock steath cooler ( which is still reasonably good for a stock cooler) the temp are higher than I like it to be. I was looking around a air cooler, but one that is not too big. I won't reuse my H60 for it. too bulky with the water pipes and all. I really like how the Wraith prism look, it's a very great looking piece of equipement.. The cooling performance are quite reasonable and a lot of people have them around because they upgrade the cooler for their 2700x. For the 65w TDP of the 2600 ( plus overclock) it very decent. Thank.

I'm using A Wraith Max cooler on my 1600X (@ 4 gigahertz) CineBench R15 (three runs up to 70c in temp) I like having a down draft air cooler keeping VRM's cooler. The Wraith spire is decent but 200 mhz less on my overclock with the 1600X. (safer temps) Thanks Hardware Unboxed for the informative comparison.

Great content as usual Steve. Liked the comparison of the AMD products and liked the addition of 3rd party to the testing with the solid recommendations at the end. Keep up the excellent work!!

One test I would have liked to see, is your taping off some fins to simulate a dust collection on the fins.

The 200T is a tower which the fan doesn't blow over the VRM so why does it have lower VRM temps than the Prism?
