First time I heard this was riding my bike in West Philly with my buddy (we were only 10 years old). We got to the corner to turn around and come back down the street. I stopped and listened, he said come on, I said, NO, can't you hear that song? It was coming from a parked convertible1962 Pontiac Catalina, roof down, it was blasting, I got chills. I remember it vividly.  WIBG AM in Philly played it and it shot up to #1 in less than 2 weeks. It was released July 9th 1963. Great song, the excitement it resonates. Awesome! What an exciting summer that was!

"Heatwave, " in my opinion, is the greatest song ever to come out of Motown -- released during an actual heat wave in August, 1963 -- I remember it well from that wonderful summer...

What a track. Fell in love to this when I was 12. Now I'm 71 and retired. Still love you Toni!!

The scene from Carrie (1976) with John Travolta cruising with Nancy Allen to this song brought me here.

I’m only 33 but grew up with the oldies! I lost my mom a year ago and these songs always remind me of her!! It’s 2024 and these classic oldies are still steady in my rotation!! Love and miss you mom!

I declare that no matter how much older I get, I will NEVER get tired of this song and this version of it. I was 13 when it came out and it makes me jump even now.

Being a sax player, I always loved the sax in the background. There's no sound like Martha and the Vandellas. RIP Lamont Dozier. We could use more songs like this today.

My daughter told me that this song reminded her of me and her Mamma ..
When she was younger I came in from work and put this song on then
danced with my wife in the kitchen while she was making dinner for us.
She was only 7 yrs old at the time, She is 25 now !

The first record I ever owned. Got it in 1963 as a 15 year old. The record was a demo/promo 45 not for sale. Played it hundreds of times. Wonderful memories.
