i have an amzon echo dot and the amazon echo, but ive always liked google's home products and google assistant, so i decided why not try the mini, and i was suprised at how loud and much clearer the speaker of the mini is than the dot. the mini has replaced the dot for good in my bedroom.

I work for Google and sell their Devices. Google Mini far louder than Echo Dot too. For a totally Smart TV experience team it with a Chromecast.

Thanks for sharing. I just grabbed two of these from Best Buy with the 10$ gift card deal. Tough to beat the price for sure. Google Home has made great strides in the home automation game lately. I have almost everything working now with Google Home natively or with IFTTT. I am just waiting for Google Home to support Sonos natively and I will be all set. It works great with my lights, Chromecasts, and Honeywell thermostats.

One nice trick these do now is you can set default audio and video streaming for each 'Home' or 'Mini' in the Home App. So you can set your Shield as the default streaming target for video and you won't have to issue that part of the command any more if you don't want.
You could also set up a Chromecast Audio (or group) and have it be the default for streaming music.
Interestingly I was just talking with some people the other day about how Home could not stream to 'Android TV' devices at the moment. A glitch. Apparently they have it fixed.

Two great things about the Amazon/Google competition in this space.
1. It is certainly making both products better, faster.
2. There is no reason to choose just one. They won't fight each other. Have both and just use whichever you like for whatever you like.

what got me hooked to it was the bevy of information and fun things it could do i got one for 59 dollars then i got one for free because i had purchased a premuim spotify account and later i bought another one for my friend, I really enjoy it
