Banana is edible. Inside the banana tree.. There is soft layer, you can cook it as vegetable.
You also can cook banana purple flower as vegetable. There so many varieties recipe to cook these vege in asia.

It takes 9-12 months to grow, it’s technically an herb and it will give you up to 240 bananas on average and they are a PAIN in the you know what. My brother just cut his down after a few months because if you don’t remove the daughters they will take over. Good luck!

Haha you made me look. I just found some pups from a bananas that people had threw out down the street. I had to run out and see if I had divas or Mama's. Is that based only on the first leaf cuz they're pretty round now

Banana trees are very messy. Not a great looking ornamental tree but good if you want fruit.
