I love this. I have seen more level-headed advice from lawyers about living free from "success culture" than I have from any other community. It's as thought, what lawyers really wanted all along was peace, and they tried to first find it by controlling things, then found it by letting go of that.

It’s insane it’s such a sought after career but has the most suicides. It’s in the top 5. Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Pharmacists and Dentists. All highly sought after careers. With the top suicide rate. Stop chasing prestige and do something with your life that will make you happy day to day.

Some studies have shown that suicide rates among lawyers may be as much as six times higher than the average population, and commentators suggest that the low opinion the public has of lawyers, combined with their own high ideals of justice (which - in practice - they may see denied), increase the depression rates of those in this profession.

Additionally, lawyers are twice as likely to suffer from addiction to alcohol and other drugs.

1900 hours a year? As an associate my requirement was 2200 per year. Total joke. When the partners felt they wanted to make more money, their “solution” was raising the billable requirements, as if they could increase output by fiat.
