Minecraft: Door Lock with Private Key (Tutorial)

Note for 1.18 builders. This still works but you NEED to have 16 IDENTICAL keys when you first set it up, rather than just 1. so you need to make at least 17 keys in total (assuming you're using book + quilt since they stack up to 16)

One thing he forgets to mention in this video is the “key” has to be a non-stackable item. I tried it with an item that stacks and it didn’t work.

I actually figured out how to build this just from views and angles in Hermitcraft n converted it to a turtle farm. Im no redstone genius but im rather proud of this invention

The only problem with mine is that if i throw something other than the key it takes it in and nothing happens but if i try to throw anything else in including the key it won't take essentially breaking the door, how do i make it not take items that isn't the key?

I tried to do this on a server but the book would constantly not match. It would work one time but another time it would absolutely failed I checked everything it had the same number of tags but it literally would not stack up and go into the first hopper... Anybody understand how to fix this?

When you toss the key in, how does it go into the second hopper? If the first hopper is not connected to anything, how does it get in? Please help!!

Okay so I'm in 1.16.1 RN I made the thing everything works, except I have a problem with it and I'm confused. trying to make a map and I wanted to use a Netherite axe as a key because I wanted it to be a mop drop, but it doesn't deny other items from entering the hopper which basically clogs it, I tried naming the axes but the issue still applies and even if it isn't named and I put it in the door opens, IDK why this is happening cause I'm pretty darn sure I got all the hopper placements and the redstone correct.
