It's sad how much this actually happens in the school system's children asking for help and being ignored or they assume it's something else and these are the people we entrust our children's lives with everyday

For all of you who think she knowingly ate a cookie with nuts is showing your incredible ignorance and lack of empathy. Number one — This headline snip didn't mention anything about her knowing it had nuts in it before eating it. Two— Many desserts have nut substances in them and no one would know unless they have the ingredients listed on display. And three — macadamia nuts look just like white chocolate chips...which is the other ingredient in that cookie. When did people forget how to think before speaking let alone not say anything if you don't have anything nice to say? Two wrongs don't make a right etc. The school completely mishandled this situation. And no matter the reason this young girl was in distress, an ambulance and her father should have been called immediately. You don't mess with emergencies, this girl could have died.

This happened to me but instead of it being school faculty, it was a physician! Years ago I was rushed by my parents (one of which is a surgical nurse) to the ER because I was turning blue and was not breathing well after having a cold for a few days. I didnt know about this until after I got my medical records but when the pulmonologist saw me he wrote in the report that I had been found unconscious by my parents and it’s most likely an overdose because I had just been put on methadone, which was a completely false statement! My parents never “found me unconscious”! I had been put on methadone but was handling that successfully and was doing well! What was actually wrong was I ended up having viral pneumonia that put me in a coma for weeks! By the time he wrote this report my blood had already been tested and there were no sign of opiates! This stigma about addicts is why many people are not upfront with medical professionals about their past! They instantly judge you and according to this story you don’t even have to have past drug use for people to have no compassion and act appropriately!

I'd sue the school just to get schools to STOP serving nuts at school functions. A girl died for the exact same reason at a prom in my area. Because the school was serving cookies with hidden bits of peanuts in them. And other schools across the country didn't pay attention to that?

Sue the school for $599, 880.00 for incompetence and putting the student's life in danger since they were grilling her on a false accusation and what seems to be an illegal search and seizure.
