As an American citizen living in USSR/Russia since August 1991 with 10 trips to visit friends and family back in the USA, I see this just like Prof. Doctorow does. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to communicate this to people in the USA when their major source of information (or lies?) is the DSM -- the DumbStream Media like WaPo, NYT, ....
