Another thing about kdramas is that the male characters are shown as very normal humans. It might sound wierd to say it that way but I really mean it like male characters that don't hide their emotions, characters that break down, cry with their whole heart, characters that usually don't have big male egos, men not hesitating to show affection to each other. Just normal human beings that are going through stuff. I think that's very different compared to what we (usually) have here in India where men crying is shown as weak or where if men show affection is shown as gay (which is not a bad thing btw). They also don't have many characters just for the sake of it. They have many characters and each and every character has a purpose and a side storyline which is very engaging. The side characters are shown as different people and not just NPCs that come for comic relief like we usually have in Indian movies. It shows how the audience likes to see this. Not saying the larger than life stuff is bad because they too have movies and dramas like that. It's just that the audience will watch all of it if the movie/series is good.
