A super interesting development with my Cattleya C.G. Roebling and her deformed bloom cycles from perfection in 2021, to suspicious in 2022. Cattleya C.G. Roebling bloomed twice in 2022 with deformed blooms. In addition to that, this orchid started showing different symptoms that could point to a virus now active within her. Her winters are extremely challenging because of low light levels and low temperatures while in a set up of leca and self watering semi hydroponics. It sure is interesting to see how she has bloomed for us August 2023. #orchideen #orchidcare #beginners #blooms #orquideas #leca

Nina, those blooms are something to behold! Absolutely gorgeous! Keeping her segregated from the rest of your collection is the right thing to do; however, it doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy her while you have her. She could bloom for many years for you; you obviously enjoy those blooms. What a pity if she were not allowed to gift those blooms to you. I say take care of her, separate from your other orchids, and enjoy the time you have with her. She is stunning, virus or no virus!!! 💜

Thank you so much for showing her to is! I got one from the orchid society's table at an orchid show back in March. Because of my mistreatment of my big poor girl, her two growths that had begun growing got enormous amount but didn't bloom. I truly wish I knew what I know now because of watching your videos. I saw algae and repotted her right away, she didn't have roots coming soon enough. I didn't stake this massive girl because I didn't know what I was doing and she fell over multiple times, leading to multiple repots. Because I heard that if you make slices or cut through the rhizome you get more blooms, I did that and leaned too hard on my dears little roots in the process. My goodness, the mistakes I made with my first Cattleyas leave me doting on them even more than the new ones because I feel so guilty.

They have managed to survive despite me even though they look worse for wear. And have the promise of tomorrow in their new growths now that they have an owner with a little more insight thanks to Nina!

🦒🥰💕💐 She seems perfect for a "virused" orchid. With all the stress she had to endure and still blooming like that? Too bad vírus kits are so expensive. I wonder how many in our collections are virused and we don't know. SVKL did a test on several of his orchids last year with unhappy results. Anyway, either yours is a very reziliant orchid despite or she is healthy 😍🥰😘😘😘😘

My one keeps growing huge new growths but no blooms. She is in high light so that can’t be it, maybe its too warm for mine. Yours looks amazing 🤩

well, those blooms certainly look clean but that doesn't mean anything. Now, the next blooming will be an indicator of the general health of the plant. Those wet spots aren't something I would associate with a virus. But I have seen plants bloom clean that were virused. But, if a plant has been under more stress and blooms clean, it is less likely that it is virused and the past bloom issues were environmental. So, we wait to see if that other bud blooms out and we wait for next years blooms.
